Engraving & Artistic Detail
- Artisanal Materials Used
- Copper inlay
- Silver inlay
- Red enamel detailing
- Hammered and punched steel
- Burin engraving
- Fret-worked components: The body of the receiver is fully hammered and punched, overlaid with a "Portolano"—a medieval sailor's rutter—and sideplates that depict Marco Polo's departure from Venice and his travels through the Mongolian steppes. Compass roses, a Chinese inscription meaning "Uniting Europe and Asia as two parts of a single gem," and copper medallions etched with Polo's profile all contribute to a deeply symbolic piece.
The top lever is a work of art in itself, featuring fret-work, a compass rose with red enamel, a silver inlay winged lion of Venice, and the likeness of Marco Polo’s sheep—an argali from Central Asia. The serial number, MARCOPOLO7, is copper-inlayed on the receiver tang.

Stock & Woodworking
Crafted from grade 5 walnut, the stock and forend feature a Scottish checkering pattern that echoes the metallic diamond motifs. Finished with over 80 layers of Tru-Oil®, the wood is rich and lustrous, with a compass rose copper medallion embedded at the bottom of the pistol grip.

Function Meets Legacy
The SO Sparviere system includes hand-detachable sideplates that open simultaneously for inspection and maintenance. Internally, the mechanism is decorated to match the exterior artistry. A cross-bolt locking system ensures reliable performance, while the Steelium® Optimabore® HP barrels deliver exceptional shot patterns, reduced recoil, and hand-burnished visual finish.

Custom Case & Display
Housed in a yellow leather case printed with Fra' Mauro’s 1450 map, this piece is as travel-inspired as its namesake. The interior is lined in Venetian red silk with golden rose motifs. For exhibition, a custom wood and glass cabinet by Arte Veneziana—crafted in Murano—displays the shotgun amidst hand-engraved and silvered glass panels depicting Polo’s journey.

Legacy and Ownership
Created in honor of Marco Polo's 700th anniversary, this is a one-of-one firearm that can never be replicated. A generational heirloom—crafted not just to commemorate, but to inspire.
